New products and updates

One year after the launch of Webmail2, we are pleased to announce version 2.1, the latest update to the service. During its development over the course of 2012, we have taken all of your comments and feedback into consideration, and have paid particular attention to two areas: speed and stability.

Please be aware that we are no longer planning to shut down Webmail1, and will maintain it for as long as possible.

Following the update at 9am on the 16th of April, you will be able to see the following improvements in more detail:
- new navigation system for messages, contacts, SMS and favorites;
- ActiveSync compatibility, bringing you even more straightforward synchronisation of mobile devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android etc;
- more frequent refresh of your message list;
- option to change the layout density, offering improved readability;

Your web site files are backed up in their entirety on a daily basis to our second data centre, from where they remain available during 7 days. From now on, using our file manager (admin2.infomaniak.com/ftp), you may restore the previous version of a given file or recover deleted files in one click simply by browsing to the directory in question.

Since 2005, we have offered an SMS service, allowing you to receive SMS alerts on receipt of an important e-mail or simply to allow you to send a message quickly to one or more recipients in a single click. We have managed to negotiate new pricing for the Webmail2 service, with tariffs now starting at CHF 0.09/SMS for Switzerland and €0.09/SMS for all countries within the EU. For your information, we have added some clarifications to Article 8 regarding domain names when transferring a hosting contract to a new owner and to Article 9 regarding conversations exchanged during a call with our support. Please find the two additions below:

(...) This contract transfer only covers the hosting services supplied by Infomaniak, and will not in any case include domain names linked to the contract at the moment of the transfer. In order to transfer a domain linked to a hosting contract, the Client must change the whois (contact details concerning the domain name's owner) using the procedure detailed in the hosting's administration interface (under DNS > Managing domain names > Modify the whois > Change owner contact details). This procedure may be charged.

(...) The Client is advised that phone calls with Infomaniak Support may be monitored and/or recorded for quality control and training purposes only.

C’est une petite révolution dans le monde très stratégique des noms de domaine sur Internet: la vente de noms de domaine chez Infomaniak devient une réalité !
Depuis début 2013, les noms de domaine se terminant par l’extension “.ch” peuvent être achetés chez infomaniak à un meilleur tarif que sur le site de l’organisme officiel Switch. Ceux-ci intéresseront notamment les gestionnaires de sites suisses qui attendent cette possibilité d’achat de noms de domaine indépendante depuis de nombreux mois.
Nous avons mis en ligne cette semaine sur le site www.infomaniak.com la possibilité pour vous de transférer gratuitement vos noms de domaine .ch ou de commander de nouveaux noms de domaine .ch au prix imbattable de 9.90. Reliez celui-ci en tant que synonyme d’un hébergement déjà existant chez Infomaniak ou alors gérez sa zone DNS comme vous l’entendez !

Si vous avez l’occasion de transférer vos noms de domaine chez nous, cela sera l’occasion de découvrir la nouvelle console d’administration qui va bientôt vous être proposée pour remplacer admin.infomaniak.com pour la gestion de votre site Internet.

L'atout principal de cette offre est bien entendu son prix, mais ce n'est pas tout : avec chaque nom de domaine vous pouvez obtenir une adresse e-mail et un espace d'hébergement si vous n’avez pas encore besoin d’un véritable hébergement.
En effet, grâce à l’hébergement Starter mis à disposition lors de l’enregistrement de votre nom de domaine, vous pourrez créer une adresse e-mail de votre choix (exemples: info@, contact@, prenom.nom@, etc.). De plus, une adresse "postmaster" sera créée automatiquement et vous pourrez l’utiliser au besoin.
Celles-ci pourront bien sûr être utilisées avec notre Webmail et vous disposerez donc de tous les outils qui s’y trouvent: agenda, carnet d’adresses, SMS, favoris, et bien entendu un répondeur automatique, des déviations, des filtres de tri, etc. Sans oublier les fonctions de partage et de synchronisation !
Inclus: espace disque de 10 Mo
Idéal pour un site vitrine, l’hébergement Starter vous donne accès à un espace disque de 10 Mo limité aux fichiers de type HTML.
Vous bénéficierez d’un mini-éditeur vous permettant de créer votre page d’accueil très facilement et/ou un compte FTP que vous pourrez utiliser avec notre gestionnaire de fichiers pour accéder directement aux données présentes sur le serveur.
Souvenez-vous du temps où il fallait acheter un “.ch” chez Switch, puis trouver un prestataire de messagerie tiers, et enfin relier les deux au moyen de configurations complexes et hasardeuses.
Cette période est aujourd’hui révolue ! En effet, l’hébergeur phare en Suisse romande vous propose dorénavant un pack à petit prix comprenant le nom de domaine, la messagerie, et l’espace disque, ceci avec la qualité et le service qu’on lui connait !
Les extensions suivantes sont d’ores et déjà disponibles à la vente:
.com, .fr, .ch, .li, .net, .org, .be, .info, .biz, .name, .eu, .re, .pro et une centaine d’autres extensions seront à terme mises à disposition.
L’interface de gestion vous permet de configurer votre nom de domaine comme vous le souhaitez. Vous pourrez entre autre relier celui-ci en tant que synonyme d’un hébergement déjà existant chez Infomaniak ou alors gérer la zone DNS de ce dernier comme vous l’entendez.
Pour découvrir notre nouvelle offre de noms de domaine, rendez-vous simplement dans votre console d’administration admin2.infomaniak.com puis dans le menu Administration > Gestion des produits.

We are pleased to inform you of a change in our email storing policy which will certainly be most welcome by you.

We are from now on able to store indefinitely your messages, including those that aren’t sorted or archived in specific folders (article 2 of our general terms and conditions has been modified in this prospect).

For this important modification which we know to be highly essential, to take place correctly, we must also make sure we aren’t hosting idle/unused mailboxes. For that purpose, hosting contract owners will occasionally receive a warning message for each address that won’t have been checked (pop, imap or webmail) in the past 11 months. Thirty days later, without any news from our Client, the address will be considered as unused and will be destroyed.

Addresses that use forwards but keep local copies of all that’s forwarded will be treated specifically. Our support will contact the Clients concerned individually, when the situation occurs to suggest them more optimal solutions.

This new freedom and peace of mind you can now fully benefit from mustn’t however eclipse the email rules of good use, only guarantor of performance and reliability:

- regularly archive your messages in fitted folders
- avoid as much as possible keeping more than 5'000 messages per folder

These new rules apply from now on!

Retrouvez toutes les fonctionnalités de notre ancien Webmail https://webmail1.infomaniak.ch, agrémentées des plus puissantes fonctions de synchronisation et partage de données ! Vous pouvez en effet gérer vos messages, vos contacts et vos agendas, tout en partageant ces informations avec d'autres appareils (iPhone, ordinateur de la maison ou du travail, tablettes, etc.) ou d'autres utilisateurs ayant également un compte d'accès au Webmail !
C'est la solution idéale pour les particuliers comme pour les PME, car vous n'avez plus à vous soucier de reporter une information sur vos différents appareils : elle sera instantanément disponible partout et chez chaque personne connectée.

Many of you already use and refer to our Knowledge Database which has existed since the very beginning at https://support.infomaniak.com. It has been continuously growing to offer answers to all the questions you might have about your hosting and what you want to do with it. You will now find installation guides for the most common CMS (Content Management System) such as Wordpress, Joomla, Magento, Prestashop, Typo3, etc., and even the lesser known (Drupal, CMS Made Simple, Owncloud, etc.). If you find an installation guide that still doesn’t exist in our FAQ would come in handy, feel free to contact us on the subject, so we may work on the possibility to add one.

You may already be using it? A new file manager is available in your administration console or at http://admin2.infomaniak.com/ftp/. Its use will give you the possibility of managing the content of your hosting like FTP client software but without a web browser. Its features are amongst others:

- browsing in your disk space directories
- transferring files both ways
- handling existing files (copy, rename, move …) and their licenses and owners
- creating files
- editing and previewing word files, .htaccess, php, html...

For several weeks, the previous version will coexist with this new tool in your administration console before we remove it for good.

For some years now we’ve been bringing several improvements in the managing of your back ups, like a permanent access to them via an administrator FTP account : you will find, one level before /web in a directory called "backups", an image of the past 7 days for all your files and database ( http://www.infomaniak.com/support/faq/faq_home.php?&faq=250 ).

At present, we own 2 datacenters; all data regarding your hosting are stored on servers spread between both our datacenters. It’s important we let you know that for some months now, we’ve been backing up all data located in our first datacenter’s servers onto our second datacenter, and likewise conversely. We wanted you to know it, as we’ve added this item in our hosting terms and conditions ( http://hosting.infomaniak.com/terms-conditions/ ; articles 1 and 11 modified accordingly).
